Tell us a little bit about yourself – including something we may not know about you.

Originally from the UK, I have been in Cayman for just over 2 years. I’m married and have a little boy who will be 1 at the weekend. I used to play rugby back in the day as you may be able to tell from some of my choices of gym wear.

What made you walk through the doors to give 7 Mile Strength & Fitness a try?

I had double bucket meniscus tear with a full ACL tear in July 2019 (trying to run round a girl playing touch), after over a year of rehab I was looking for a controlled environment to continue to get stronger and was recommended 7 Mile by my physio and couple of friends.

What was the hardest part when you started out and how did you overcome that?

Regaining the confidence in my knee, when I first joined I discussed this with Cera and we took the start very slowly building confidence in the movements before adding weight.

What is something you’re really proud of?

Apart from my family, beating Peterborough Lions RFC in the play offs to gain promotion was a pretty great day.

When you see ________________ in a workout, it makes you wanna fist pump!

Deadlifts or running.

When you see _____________ in a workout, it makes you want to walk back out the door and go home!

Thrusters.

What are a few of your favorite things to do on island?

Drinking a beer in the sea while watching sunset has to be number one but I’m a big foodie so any sort of BBQ and I’m a happy chap.

Anything about “back home” that you really miss (besides family)?

A proper English pub, either in winter when you can sit by a fire and drink cask ale or in the summer in the pub garden when the sun goes down at 9 pm.

Anything crazy on your bucket list? (bungee jumping, sky diving, hiking?)

I would still like to dive with sharks.

Favorite song?

Such a hard one as it depends on your mood, but I think all round it has to Blur, Song 2.

If you could write your own WOD, what would it look like?

For Time:

800m Run

24 Deadlifts

400m Run

12 Deadlifts

200m Run

6 Deadlifts

100m Run

3 Deadlifts

Would you recommend 7 Mile Strength & Fitness to others and if so, why?

100% and I already have recruited Shelley after she moved here a few months ago. It’s a really positive fun environment to train and the coaches are really knowledgeable!

Thank you Ollie – we are proud to have you as June 7 Miler of the Month!
