1) Tell us a little bit about yourself – including something we may not know about you.
- Despite growing up in the UK, I lived in San Francisco for 10 years before coming to Cayman – I feel more American than British. Jen and I moved to Cayman in the midst of the pandemic as SF was very serious about their lockdowns. I also rowed at university (in one of the college boats), so any session on the rowers brings back memories!
2) When you see _____ in a workout, you think, “Yes, I love these!”
- Deadlifts, strict presses, rowing – I’m keen on the ones where technique matters.
3) When you see _____ in a workout, you think, “Uh-oh!”
- Wall balls – they look simple, but they weigh a ton and after the first 20 it’s always a complete slog
4) Favorite thing to do in Cayman?
- Swim from Smith’s cove to Sunset house – it’s a great swim, lots of wildlife.
5) If you could write your own WOD, what would it look like?
- Mainly focused on strength and technique, but with something to get the heart rate up thrown in – here’s my go at that: 3 rounds of every 5 minutes on the 5th minute:
- 12 deadlifts
- 30 plate situps
- 400m jog
6) Do you have any friendly competitions with anyone from class?
- Given I’m usually at the 5:30am slot, those guys are pretty committed – I do keep my eye on closing the gap between myself and them though ;-).
7) Motto or phrase you live by.
- Everything is a trade-off
8) Favorite piece of advice you’ve been given.
- Don’t overthink it
9) What are you most proud of accomplishing?
- Being a parent – definitely comparable to a whole day of wallballs.
10) What is your favorite part of your day?
- Breakfast – I’m big on a cooked breakfast and a large coffee to kick off the day
11) Anything on your bucket list?
- I actually don’t have a bucket list! I’m more opportunistic and work to enjoy the surprises that come my way – moving to Cayman’s a great example of that – 6 weeks from deciding to move to arriving.
12) Would you recommend 7 Mile Strength & Fitness to others and if so, why?
- Yep – I’m still amazed by the attitude of everyone at the gym – pretty solid group.
